I was craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other day, as I normally do, but I didn’t have any bread. I was not about to go through the hassle of getting my infant ready to go to the store just for some bread, so I had to get a little creative.
I had a few go-to peanut butter sandwich combinations when I was growing up:
1. peanut butter and jelly
2. peanut butter and honey (I no longer eat honey as a vegan, but I do enjoy agave or Bee Free Honee)
3. peanut butter and chocolate
I’m sure peanut butter would taste delicious between a plethora of foods and some of those are yet to be discovered, but I just took an apple that I had and made some simple, delicious mini apple sliders.
This recipe is almost too simple to even call it a recipe, but I would feel like a jerk if I didn’t share this.
These simple sliders make a perfect after school (or anytime) snack
Mini Apple Sliders
- 1 apple (any variety works)
- peanut butter
- chocolate or white chocolate chips
- bee free honee or agave
Thinly slice your apple and cut out shapes with your cookie cutter if you're choosing to use one. It's fine to simply keep the apples in slices.
On one slice, put as much peanut butter as you desire
On the other slice, put jelly, chocolate chips, or honey alternative
Put the two slices together and enjoy
This is my favorite honey alternative
